Is there any reason i shouldn t make the raised panels out of plywood.

The panel raises when we apply a second plywood panel framed with molding. While raised panel cabinet doors are great looking sometimes a flat panel door fits the overall look and design of the project better. Since the edge of plywood is about 50 long grain a butt joint would suffice but alignment would be easier with some other sort of joint. We are currently researching the use of hardwood lumber core with matching veneer for our raised panel doors.
