The trickiest part of installing a range hood is determining how to run the ventilation ducts.
Range hood vent through metal roof.
As a result it looks awful from inside the house since it abuts a beam that runs across the kitchen ceiling.
Depending on the location of your range you will need to decide if it is easier to vent through an outside wall versus up through the roof.
My range hood was vented through the roof but is not centered over the range hood.
Try to keep it close to the fan location.
If you are adding a new range hood over your stove and plan to vent it out through the roof you will need to get an adequately sized duct that will run all the way up through the ceiling into the attic and all the way up through the rooftop where it will be connected to your roof top vent.
From up on the roof use a jigsaw or reciprocating saw to cut a 4 in.
Use this tutorial if you determine that venting through the roof is the best route.
Start in the attic and drill a hole through the roof in the desired vent location.
